Nissan Makes the Competition More Tough for Honda

Nissan is closing the gap with Honda by introducing great discounts and some stylish designs in the U.S markets. It’s been more than 25 years when this race started between these two Japanese car makers in American markets. Toyota has dodged Honda and left it at second place few years ago but Nissan on the other hand, is still in not far behind and can be seen in the rear view mirror.

Nissan Friend-Me

Nissan has changed its strategy and started launching models with best styling and supported by high end discounts that are now about to catch-up Honda and it can be possible in next few years when Nissan will overtake the rival in U.S markets.

The chairman of Nissan North America said that they are not hiding their ambitions and he is very sure that he will overtake Honda but time will answer to the question about”How long is it going to take Nissan? But it is surely going to happen” he said. By 2016, Nissan will capture about 10% more market share from Honda. From 2009 to present Nissan has increased its market share from 7.4 per cent to 8.6 per cent while Honda has its share of 9.1 per cent which is the lowest since 2006. It was at its peak in 2009 when they enjoyed an 11 per cent from U.S.

Toyota as we said is leading the market by almost five percent and sitting at 15 per cent of market in U.S. usually Honda used its technologies to be a trend setter in global markets and it is the pioneer of manufacturing Japanese cars in U.S and they do it at “crazy Speed” the term used by Honda executives to mention their operations. They are famous for quality and reliability and appeal to customers with different slogans such as, Honda: Power of Dreams, and We make it Simple.

Nissan Leaf

Nissan On Track for Autonomous Car by 2020

Nissan Leaf Set To Become the First Autonomous Car

Nissan believes that its self-driving cars will be on the road as early as 2020. CEO Carlos Ghosn made the towering promise in a speech to the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan but he also admitted that the technology isn’t currently where it needs to be.

Nissan wants to be the first one to introduce the new technology, even if other carmakers and Google are also in the race. The Japanese automaker is not interested in a partnership with Google as such collaborations usually see Google getting all the good name and the partner being pulled to side.

Nissan’s Leaf was a huge gamble for Nissan which has paid of very well. It will be the model carrying forward any autonomous developments Nissan will make. Infiniti is also going to see a lot of autonomous work done on it.

Nissan hopes to have fully automated parking available in its vehicles, as well as the Traffic Jam Assistant feature that lets the car go autonomous in heavy traffic. The automaker is also working on a system that will help cars change lanes: adaptive cruise control will steer a the vehicle around slower traffic when nearby lanes are clear of obstruction. Another feature would be the ability for cars to negotiate city intersections without driver input.

The main issue here is that will Nissan be allowed to have autonomous driven cars on the road and supreme would be safety concerns. Traffic jams are a major source of stress for the average driver and more intelligent driving will certainly help to solve the issue.

Nissan LEAF

The Japanese Face a Threat From Germans

Nissan LEAF Under Threat From Other Electric Car Makers

Nissan’s LEAF isn’t the fastest electric car and it certainly isn’t the most attractive. The Japanese hatch is regarded as a something of a forgotten cause in the emerging world of electromobility. However, because it does the basics well. But its status is now under threat from Germany.

The LEAF has found 115,000 owners around the world, the vast majority of whom are more than satisfied with its reasonable performance, appealing practicality, rock-solid reliability, and ease of use. For these reasons it’s the benchmark for measuring other zero-emission not to mention a general admiration of Nissan’s decision to embrace the technology long before any rivals have.

Nissan LEAF Interior

For a long time Nissan LEAF didn’t have any competitors but now premium automakers are getting heavily involved it could be problematic for Nissan. Norway is the biggest electric car buyer but LEAF sales are dwindling as in May, there were only 342 examples sold. The figure is the worst this year for Nissan, and is due in part to increasing sales of Volkswagen’s brace of electric cars, the e-up! and the e-Golf.

The number of electric cars from premium brands is set to grow as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, and Porsche are all developing electrified cars at a frightening pace. Volkswagen Group alone is in a position to offer up to 40 battery-electric and plug-in hybrids models from its portfolio of brands at and there’s even talk of a pure electric Porsche 911 by the end of the decade.

Strong early demand for cars like the Volkswagen e-up! and the lightweight BMW i3 shows that price isn’t unaffordable to electric car sales once they reach a certain level of desirability. Nissan sits outside that bracket, however, and with current battery costs the company can’t lower the price of the LEAF any more than it already has. Until the cost of building electric batteries cars become significantly less expensive the Nissan LEAF will have a tough time ahead.

Nissan ZEOD

Nissan’s ZEOD Racer Scores a “World’s First” at Le Mans

Nissan sets a new Record

Nissan’s ZEOD electric racer has seen its Le Mans 24 Hours ambitions ruined after just 23 minutes this weekend, though there was still enough time for the Japanese car company to hit three “world’s firsts” on the track. Despite the high-tech powertrain, which pairs a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with two 110kW electric motors, the ZOED’s hopes were grounded by a low-tech fault, affecting the gearbox and forcing the Nissan team to bring the racer back in after just five laps.

While that was only a fraction of the race time the 24-hour-long event demands, Nissan was still able to use it as a test case for the ZOED. First, the company abandoned the standard rear-view mirror and replaced it with its Smart Rearview Mirror system announced back in February. Footage from a high-res camera on the back of the car is sent to a display where the traditional mirror would be mounted.

The system can also flag up approaching cars behind the ZEOD, illustrating their movements using on-screen arrows. The same approach is used to indicate whether another car is trying to overtake.

Nissan got special permission to use the technology, with the Le Mans organizers usually mandating regular mirrors. This year, however, the race included a spot for a technology showcase entry, dubbed “Garage 56”, which Nissan grabbed for the ZEOD.

Even before the race began, Nissan had clinched another “world’s first”: completing a full 8.5 mile lap of the track on electric power alone. Finally, there was a 186mph run on the legendary Mulsanne Straight, completed during the qualifying lap on Thursday last week. Nissan says it will re-enter Le Mans in 2015.

2014 Nissan Pulsar

Nissan returns to the Family Hatchback Sector with the New Nissan Pulsar

Nissan Pulsar to be Launched in Summer

Nissan has revealed the all-new Pulsar hatch – its answer to the Ford Focus, VW Golf and Vauxhall Astra. Since the Almera ceased production in 2006, Nissan didn’t have any car in the highly competitive hatch segment and the Pulsar relives a name originally used in 1978.
The Pulsar will fit in below the new Qashqai and X-Trail in the line-up. The V-shaped grille surrounding the badge, and angled headlights, are virtually identical to the Qashqai. Nissan claims the new car offers “considerably” more rear leg, shoulder and kneeroom than its rivals.

Nissan Pulsar not only shares its styling with the Qashqai and X-Trail, but it also has the same LED headlight tech and the same engine line-up. The engine includes 113bhp 1.2-litre DiG-T petrol turbo, a 1.5 dCi diesel with 108bhp, 260Nm of torque and CO2 emissions as low as 95g/km, plus a 187bhp 1.6 turbo under the hood of a range-topping hatch. A Nissan Pulsar Nismo will have 197bhp along with a Pulsar Nismo RS giving 215bhp.

The Pulsar should be one of the safest cars in its class thanks to the adoption of the Safety Shield package already available on the X-Trail, Qashqai and facelifted Juke. These safety features include autobraking, a 360-degree camera system giving the driver a full picture of their surroundings when parking or pulling out, plus lane-departure and blind-spot warning.

The new hatch will be made in Barcelona, Spain, although it was designed at Nissan’s studio in Paddington, London, while the engineering development was carried out at its base in Cranfield, Beds. The new Nissan Pulsar is expected to go on sale in the autumn from around £16,000.

Several Nissan models are experiencing airbag sensor problems

Nissan is recalling almost one million cars to fix the faulty sensors

After recall notices for several models of Toyota, Volkswagen, GM motors and BMW, now Nissan is issuing a recall notice for its several models including Altima, Leaf, Pathfinder and Sentra on an airbag sensor problem, reported in United State.

Nissan-Recall

Nissan-Recall

Airbag sensors are experiencing airbag deploying issues and sometimes unable to deploy passenger airbags in the case of a crash. This issue was filed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration last week.

In order to overcome this serious issue and apply a fix, Nissan is recalling over 1 million cars worldwide and just under a million units from U.S only. Nissan said that the recall notice will include 2013-2014 Nissan Altima, Leaf, Pathfinder and Sentara. There are several luxury models included in the list and these are 2013 NV200 and Infiniti JX35 along with QX60 and Q50.

High engine vibrations while idling and unnatural seating posture are responsible for this problem, said Nissan. These common problems are confusing the sensor and cause sensor shut-off that disable the passenger airbags. The occupant-detection sensor in the front seat processes pressure and deactivates the airbag in case the seat is empty or a child is up front. The recall increases and redirects the airbag sensors evoke filed in February 2013 for 82,038 Nissan models apart from the NV200.

In June 2013, Nissan said it still received warranty claims for defective airbag sensors and thought that the hitches were due to awkward sitting arrangements of people where they try to sit in outlandish poses. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration afterwards warned Nissan for airbag complaints, and after more exploration the automaker found in a minimum of seven cases where the passenger airbag fails to deploy because the sensor traced the seat as vacant. Nissan bought back four out of those seven vehicles from owners and by February a software update is announced to the airbag sensor for all cars.

Nissan will reprogram the airbag sensor from mid April to enhanced sense idle vibrations and various other seating positions. If you own one of the recalled models of Nissan, you must contact your local dealership for details.

2015 Nissan GT-R

2016 Nissan GT-R Headed for New York Auto Show

2016 Nissan GT-R Hybrid is getting Ready for New York Auto Show with 800 Hybrid Horses

Hybrid hypercar is in fashion these days and Nissan is getting in on the action. Sources at Nissan have confirmed that the 2016 Nissan GT-R Hybrid will be unveiled at the New York Auto show and it will have a 800 hybrid horsepower engine.

The 2016 Nissan GT-R Hybrid is Nissan’s answer to the likes of the new Acura NSX, Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder. “The GT-R has always been the paradigm of affordable performance, consistently beating its far-more expensive rivals,” said Taro Tsujimoto, Director of Applied Technology, Supercars Under Nismo, “If a fancy Honda can be considered by some to be a hypercar, why not make the ultimate high-performance car possible?” The 3.8 litre twin-turbo V-6 is mated to an electric motor and a seven speed dual-clutch gearbox. The front wheels are driven by two electric motors that can independently vector torque. Nissan says the system’s combined output is around 800 hp and 847 lb-ft of torque, though it’s still undergoing final tuning.

Changes to the GT-R Hybrid are radical. Weight savings measures are everywhere, and no detail was too-small to overlook: the engine air filter has been removed, the navigation screen is now blanked, the glove box is now made of injection-moulded thermoplastic olefin, and the tire pressure labels have been adjusted by a half-an-inch to lower the GT-R Hybrid’s centre of gravity. The GT-R Hybrid will accelerate form 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, but engaging Ultra Attack Mode makes it even faster. As Tsujimoto pointed out, “The new 2016 Nissan GT-R Hybrid will deliver unparalleled excitement on the road, both for its driver and those who happen to catch a glimpse of one on the road.”
